Sunday School Hour

For this spring, there will not be a regular Sunday school time for the children. Howver, there will be childcare for those adults bringing their children. (ages newborn-5th grade). During the Sunday school hour, all the children will be located in the Media Center. Nursery care will be provided for nursery age children and God's Stars program will be worked on by the older children.

On the other hand.... :)

St Philips seems to love the special event Sunday school hour programs we have been doing (ie: Advent Jesse Tree Sunday and Lenten Program Breakfast). So, we are planning another one! We will keep you posted to details as they are ready!

Children’s Church

Children’s Church happens during the regular service. The children, K- 5th grade, leave during the sequence (song). They follow the cross out and go with me, Mrs. Lahey, to the library for a fun church experience. They return during the announcements and stay with their families for the rest of the service.

This year we are studying about the Life of Jesus. The Scripture emphasis for this year is Matthew 5: 16: "Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven."

We are also learning the Wordless Book, which is a way of sharing the Gospel with using just five colors. The children are learning how to share the Gospel using this tool.

Both Sunday school and children’s church are taught with the knowledge that children learn in many different ways. We utilize reading, writing, drawing, painting, clay, drama, puppets, snacks, music, play, and games to relate the lessons to the children.
